Marking World Mangroves Day: 2,200 Seedlings Planted by Community Groups in Kinyaule

Today we marked World Mangroves Day at Kinyaule with an eventful celebration of the individual efforts of community groups drawn from Marereni, Kinyaule, Gongoni, and other areas. The event brought together 218 community members, including local administration and representatives from 20 self-help groups and community-based organizations involved in mangrove conservation and plastic waste management.

We planted a total of 2,200 mangrove seedlings, spearheaded by the Community Forest Association. The Pokomo traditional dancers, together with the Kinyaule cultural dancers, entertained the participants after the planting session, showcasing their rich cultural heritage.

Our team emphasized the need for stronger cooperation between community groups and attitude shift towards biodiversity preservation to amplify conservation efforts and enhance shared benefits. We appreciate everyone who participated.
